B’ruchim Ha’baim – Welcome!

Welcome to The Oasis School. I am honored and privileged to be Oasis’ Founding Head of School, and during the months of preparation and planning prior to our first academic year, I have been deeply impressed by the dedication of our lay leadership, and by the enthusiastic support of the entire community.

We passionately affirm the strength of a school community that celebrates our unity and our diversity. Oasis is a school for those who affiliate and represent the broadest spectrum of the Jewish community.

A new school – a “start-up” – is an opportunity to build something special, from the very beginning. We continue to seek out teachers who not only know their subject matter; they also recognize that the heart of education resides within the relationship of the learner and the facilitator of that learning. In other words, it is all about the student and the teacher.

Our goal will be never to force our students or their parents into a terrible “choice” – either a school that provides rigorous general academics, or one that offers meaningful Jewish learning. Our students deserve both. Not a school that focuses exclusively on cognitive learning and skill sets, or one that believes that social-emotional learning and the development of character are essential for an adolescent’s growth. Again: they need, and they deserve, both.

There’s so much more, of course – but for now, I invite you to look through our website, to ask questions, to think about what’s truly important in a high school experience. Sometimes it’s the “product” – and sometimes it’s the timing. Interestingly, again it is both. This is the school that the community needs – and the time is now.

Welcome to The Oasis School.

Bivracha,

Jerry
