The Director of Admissions reports directly to the Head of School, and is a member of the Administrative Leadership Team of The Oasis High School.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • To be responsible for the overall recruitment, enrollment and re-enrollment (retention) operations for the school.
  • To assume a primary role, in consultation with the Head of School and other members of the Educational Leadership Team, in the development and implementation of admissions criteria. To determine the efficacy of admissions testing and/or evaluation processes for prospective students.
  • To manage the recruitment and enrollment process, maintaining relations with prospective students and their parents/guardians. To monitor the timely collection of pertinent enrollment information (e.g., letters of reference, personal essays) for prospective students.
  • To interpret the school, its programs, structure and philosophy to prospective
    parents and students. Vehicles for this interpretation may include:
    • family/student tours and personal meetings
    • periodic “coffees” and other informal meetings of prospective and current families
    • recruitment and enrollment “fairs” and events
  • To plan, coordinate and implement (“staff”) Open House, New Parent/Freshman Orientation and other recruiting events.
  • To advise the Head of School and other members of the Leadership Team on matters related to recruitment, enrollment and retention; to communicate in a timely manner questions and issues raised by current and prospective parents/students related to admissions, retention and attrition (e.g., perceptions/misperceptions of the school’s programs, structure, philosophy and/or goals; potential barriers to enrollment, including finances).
  • The preparation, as directed by the Head of School, of reports, assessments and projections related to enrollment, for internal administrative use and/or for the Board of Trustees. To assist the Treasurer and Head of School in the preparation of proposed/projected budgets with enrollment projections.
  • To maintain positive relationships with institutions that have a potentially beneficial role to play in recruitment/enrollment, including local K-8 th Grade schools (public and independent), real estate agencies, Greater Phoenix area employers that recruit outside the area.
  • To promote the school through discussion with representatives of these institutions and the distribution of Oasis School publications and recruiting material.
  • To maintain positive relations with all local Jewish schools, particularly but not limited to Pardes Jewish Day School; to schedule visits, along with the Head of School, to these institutions, in order to promote The Oasis School as a positive option for those institutions’ families upon “graduation” – via discussion with administrators and/or distribution of Oasis School publications.
  • To offer timely follow-through for all prospective returning and new families in terms of the admissions process; to ensure that all questions and issues be referred to the appropriate staff member/s and that responses to these prospective families be received quickly.
  • To develop and evaluate The Oasis School’s publications related to admissions, recruitment and retention, in consultation with the Director of Marketing and Communications and other appropriate staff members.
  • To be the primary staff liaison to the Vice President for Recruitment and Retention, and to assist in the development of reports for the Board of Trustees. To staff enrollment-related committees, task forces, etc. at the direction of the Head of School.
  • To keep current on best practices related to admissions, as interpreted by both Jewish Day School networks and organizations (e.g., Prizmah) and the parallel independent school networks and other industry leaders (e.g., ISM).
  • To perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
  • To be a visible and positive presence in The Oasis School; to support and promote the overall mission and mandate of the school, within and outside the school.
